In the family of lakes in the Grand Est, I'd like to... !
As soon as the sun comes out, allow yourself a refreshing break by a lake: between water sports, a family picnic or a well-deserved lazy day, all you have to do is find the right activity.
Lakes where you choose the tempo
Lake Lipsach, the tranquil one
Preciously nestled in its green setting, Lac de Lispach is protected from all activities that could disturb its ecosystem. You can walk at a pace dictated by nature, observing it as you go. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some magnificent birds! With its well-developed banks, it's the ideal place to take a break from everyday life and fill up on oxygen!
Lac des Perches, your hiking HQ!
Nestling in an ancient glacial cirque at an altitude of 1,000 metres, the Lac de Perches site has everything to offer the most adventurous hiker. Extremely unspoilt and accessible only on foot, the rewards are well worth the effort! With its rocky and forested panoramas, the peaceful atmosphere is undeniable. Its water is so clear that the stars are reflected in it, it's also known as the Lake of the Stars (the perfect anecdote to bring out on your next romantic date - you'll thank us later!).
Lac Vert, the jewel of the valley
This is the place to go green, literally, as green dominates the area to the point of giving the lake its name. Like a mirror effect, the colour of the water is identical to that of the fir trees that line it! The site is a delight for fishing enthusiasts, with carp, pike and roach all found here! And of course, don't be afraid to play with reflections and shades to capture the monochrome atmosphere of the place and make a splash on your insta!
Lakes for freshwater adventurers
The surprising Lac de Pierre-Percée
Although it impresses visitors with its sheer size (300 hectares), its appearance is no less astonishing! Its maple-leaf shape has earned it the nickname "Canada Lorraine", with all the charms usually attributed to North American lakes. Both wild and full of mystery, visitors can discover all its secrets on land by hiking or mountain biking, on water in a kayak, or in the air at Aventure Parc.
The iconic Lac de Gérardmer
The largest natural lake in the Vosges, Lac de Gérardmer can be admired from a number of different vantage points, so it's up to you to share your favourite with us! For a touch of freshness, you can dip your feet in the wilderness or on the supervised beaches. And for even more thrills, you can test your balance on a stand-up paddle or get a shot of zero-carbon thrills aboard an electric boat! The shores of the lake are designed for cyclists and walkers, and why not try a 360° tour?
The not-to-be-missed Lac Blanc
As you approach the lake, it's easy to see how it got its name, since it's the white crystalline beds that give it its immaculate colour. Although swimming is not permitted, it is nonetheless a pleasant spot for an impromptu siesta, delicately scented by the fir trees that line the shores of the lake. While the site is a delight for hikers, who find their reward in the beauty of the scenery, it's also a real playground for everyone: adventure park with tree climbing, paintball, bike park and 4-season tobogganing, family trails with riddles... To dive into happiness, it's here!
Lakes for wildlife watching
Lac du Der, a haven for birds
Lac du Der is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, built in the 1970s to control the flow of the Marne and Seine rivers. A great place for observing flora and fauna, and in particular the grey crane, queen of the area, it is a meeting place for all those curious to witness the migratory ballet of this emblematic species. From mid-October to mid-March, thousands of cranes take to the air. And all year round, the green of the trees and the turquoise blue of the water create a vivid picture!
The immersive Lac de Madine
In Lorraine, at the foot of the Côtes de Meuse, with its must-see leisure centre and pleasant beach, Lac de Madine is a delight for families! Situated right in the heart of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, the 1,100-hectare shoreline is home to a wealth of wildlife that can be admired from the ornithological observatory, or on the discovery trails specially designed to reveal the invisible: pssst... nearly 15,000 birds call this unspoilt site home, so keep your eyes and ears open!
Lakes for a taste of freedom in the forest
The majestic Lac d'Orient
Lac d'Orient can be explored in the Champagne region. Here, 2,300 hectares of forest border the lake and share the landscape to offer visitors a natural treasure. And what if this lake gave us a super-power... Do you dream of flying? Take off on a microlight or a hot-air balloon, and for a moment, suspended in time, fly over this sublime site alongside the first inhabitants of the area, the birds.
The grandiose Lac des Vieilles Forges
The 150 hectares of the Lac des Vieilles Forges in the Ardennes are bordered by an immense forest: as you will have gathered, here you can rediscover a taste for freedom on walks that appeal to all your senses. You can listen to the birds singing, feel the wind rustling through the treetops and take in the invigorating scents of the forest. On foot or by bike, get ready to discover all the flora and fauna of this magnificent environment! And for aquatic adventures, try your hand at kayaking, paddle boarding or windsurfing. What a programme!
