For 1h30 to 1h45, your guide will take you through the bastioned fortifications designed by Vauban, whose military engineering was a significant support for Louis XIV. Note that Vauban’s fortifications were built in 1679 under Louis XIV. As part of the 9 cities built "ex nihilo", meaning from scratch, Longwy represents a true embodiment of the ideal city as envisioned by the engineer.

Included on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2008, the Place Forte of Longwy comprises a highly refined defense system.
