Basketry workshop: Zarzo basket and basketry basket
Explore the art of Zarzo basketry in a creative workshop! Originating in Asturias in northern Spain, this traditional basket-making technique was first used to make baskets for drying cheese. Since then, it has evolved into a contemporary style, revisited by Danish craftswomen in the 90s, to give rise to baskets with graphic, streamlined shapes.
During this workshop, discover this unique technique, which is less physically demanding than traditional basketry and ideal for beginners. Accompanied by a passionate craftswoman, you’ll learn how to make baskets or trays, experimenting with a variety of shapes. You’ll discover how weaving can become a space for play and artistic discovery.
In one day, you can make 1 to 2 pieces. If you opt for 2 days, you’ll have the opportunity to diversify your creations and master more techniques. You’ll leave with unique, functional pieces that are both elegant and rooted in revisited ancient know-how. Reserve your place now and leave with your very own Zarzo wickerwork!
