Basket-making workshop: living wicker

From her workshop in Meuse, Anne, a passionate craftswoman trained at the national basketry school in Fayl-Billot, makes a variety of traditional wickerwork objects. During this small-group workshop (maximum 6 people), you’ll discover a unique skill: living wicker. What is living wicker? It’s a fascinating process in which willow branches are woven together as they’re planted. In spring, they cover themselves with leaves and produce new twigs, which you can weave again. By opting for this workshop, you’ll leave with your own creation: a woven tree or heart of your choice, perfect for enhancing your balcony or terrace.

Simply bring along a 30 cm diameter pot or an 80 cm long, 30 cm high planter filled with universal potting soil and let the magic of living basketry begin! In just half a day, you’ll be able to create a unique piece of wickerwork between 1.20 and 1.50 m high.
