From Ervy-le-Châtel to Sommeval, saddle up for a ride through the rolling countryside of the Pays d'Othe. On this stage, you'll pass through picturesque villages, dense forests and apple-covered hillsides, all guided by the imposing silhouette of the Saint-Joseph-des-Anges chapel. Off you go!

Once you've taken the time to explore Ervy-le-Châtel, the road takes you to the Saint-Joseph-des-Anges chapel, a monumental edifice built between 1864 and 1891. Visible from afar, the chapel is dominated by a colossal statue of the Virgin Mary, measuring 7 metres in height and weighing no less than 8.5 tonnes! Thanks to its imposing architecture, the chapel marks the boundary between the Pays d'Armance and the Pays d'Othe. This landmark will accompany you all the way up to the valleys of the Pays d'Othe!

You then begin a gradual climb through the hills, famous for their apple orchards. This forested area is a paradise for cyclists! On the programme: winding paths offering superb views of the surrounding countryside. Take the opportunity to take a break and sample the local cider*, made from the region's signature hardy apple varieties, such as Avrolle and Nez de Chat.

Before arriving in Sommeval, take a diversion along the D23 to explore the forest village of Forêt Chenu. This village, right in the heart of the Forêt d'Othe massif, offers total immersion in nature. The shady paths and undergrowth are perfect for a refreshing break before continuing on your way!

Your stage ends in Sommeval, a small village nestling at the gateway to the Pays d'Othe. Here, explore the church of Saint-Martin, dating from 1834, or set off on the hiking trails through the valleys and undergrowth of the Pays d'Othe... If you've got any left in you!
