The medieval town of Ribeauvillé
After a well-earned night in the picturesque village of Ribeauvillé, this stage takes you over several passes to the village of Le Bonhomme.
Take time to discover the wine-growing town of Ribeauvillé and its medieval fortifications. Stroll along the Grand-Rue and its picturesque districts, lined with typical houses full of flowers and pretty squares adorned with fountains. Taste the tasty local dishes, both on the plate and in the glass, as gastronomy takes pride of place on the Alsace Wine Route! Taste the great vintages* at the winegrowers', who will be delighted to share their expertise with you!
Then leave the vineyards and head deep into the forest. While the first part of the Traversée du Massif des Vosges route was in the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park, you are now in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park. Be careful when you walk through these areas! There are quiet zones for wildlife, known as zones de quiétude. Adopt the right reflexes to protect the most fragile species!
Near the Seelacker pass, don't miss the ruins of Sylo, a former beguinage founded in the 13th century, and the remains of Bilstein-Aubure castle with its square keep. Pass through Aubure, the highest village in Alsace! Surrounded by forest, Aubure is also renowned for the purity of its air. It's time to take a deep breath!
As you approach the village of Le Bonhomme, pass through the Col des Bagenelles, a popular winter spot for cross-country skiing and snowshoe trekking.
