Lac Blanc discovery walk
Come and discover the beauty of the Vosges mountains on a nature outing! Explore Lac Blanc, visit Château du Hans and take in the breathtaking scenery as you learn to hike. Accompanied by a professional, state-qualified guide, you’ll immerse yourself in local history and discover the surrounding flora and fauna.
In the Vosges mountains, Lac Blanc is dominated by the Hans rock, topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary. Set in unspoilt countryside, this high-altitude lake offers breathtaking scenery. During your walk, you’ll be able to admire the beauty of the Vosges landscapes while uncovering the mysteries of this place. Legend has it that a cruel lord once lived in the castle overlooking the rock and terrorized the local population. Today, Château Hans is best known for its breathtaking views over the lake.
So strap on your hiking boots and get ready to explore this wild and enchanting site! From the Lac Blanc station, head for the stubble-covered ridges, where a flora unique in Europe awaits you. Marvel at the panoramic view over the Weiss valley, before reaching the source of Lac Blanc. Take time to enjoy a drink near Château du Hans, and, as an option, savor a mountain menu at a typical Vosges farm inn. Continue your adventure through a magnificent fir forest before heading back down to your starting point.
You’ll discover the stubble fields that have been used since the Middle Ages to raise Vosges cows and produce the famous Munster cheese. The many glacial lakes, formed during the Quaternary and Würm periods, have also preserved their wild and unique appearance. Subalpine plants, which adapt to extreme weather conditions, await you on the ridges. These high spots, shaped by man from the time of their clearing by monks in the 7th century to the upheavals of the First World War, bear witness to a rich history that has led to the development of tourism today.
Professional supervision of the walk is included, as are the necessary equipment such as poles and headlamps if required. The team takes care of the administrative, organization and booking costs. Personal expenses and hiking boot hire are at your own expense, and transport is optional.
