The wine village of Barr on the Alsace Wine Route
After discovering the emblematic Mont Sainte Odile, this stage takes you along the Alsace Wine Route, which wine-lovers will love!
Start this 10th stage through the dense forests, which offer a pleasant refuge from the heat.
Just past the halfway point, Mont Sainte Odile rises up. This mountain is dedicated to the patron saint of Alsace and is now a major spiritual and pilgrimage site. An impressive pink sandstone abbey crowns its summit, overlooking the Alsace plain below. Admire the view! In the heart of an exceptional natural environment, you can explore the pagan wall, the subject of many legends...
A little further on, the remains of the Landsberg castle are still visible despite the vegetation.
Arriving in the wine-growing village of Barr, there's a complete change of scenery: here the vines carpet the mountainsides and stretch as far as the eye can see. A great opportunity to discover the vineyards and taste the local grape varieties*! The producers will be delighted to share their know-how with you and reveal all the secrets of the great wines produced here. A stone's throw from the vineyards, take time to stroll through the historic centre, with its typical half-timbered houses and flower-filled facades.
