In Moselle as in Lorraine, the world's elite athletes come to challenge themselves before the astonished eyes of the spectators. On the French side, great champions such as Renaud Lavillenie, Christophe Lemaître and Benjamin Compaore, all athletics greats, are taking to the track in the Grand Est region for these major competitions!

Lorraine

May- The Meeting Stanislas

Considered one of the top 7 athletics events in France, the Meeting Stanislas is THE summer sports event in Lorraine not to be missed. No fewer than 4,000 spectators flock to Nancy's Raymond Petit stadium, where the athletes' prowess amazes young and old alike. Note to connoisseurs: the competition carries the European EAE label and is part of the Pro Athlé Tour, the professional circuit of athletics meetings.

This fast-paced competition is also a great opportunity to take a trip down memory lane in Nancy. Don't miss the Place Stanislas, voted the most beautiful square in France and also one of the top 20 in the world! For a bucolic stroll, head for the emblematic Parc de la Pépinière. Between heritage and sport, Nancy always comes out on top!

Moselle

February - The Metz Moselle Athlélor Meeting

Good news for chilly spectators! This winter, huddle up at L'Anneau (the athletics hall) during the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlélor to share a warm moment of sport. Since 2009, renowned international athletes have been meeting in Moselle, to the delight of fans from all over the world. Sprinting, throwing, combined events, Metz takes advantage of the indoor competition to celebrate sport, and introduce the youngest athletes to the many disciplines that make up athletics. It's sure to inspire future champions of France!

Metz and its rich and diverse culture are the backdrop to this sporting event. On the programme for this Metz escapade: the contemporary masterpiece that is the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the emblematic Saint-Etienne cathedral and the banks of the Moselle and Seille rivers. Art, culture, sport... Metz has something for everyone!

Athletics for all: fun on the track!

It's time for amateur athletes to get their trainers on! While some seasoned runners are tempted by trail races, major marathons or triathlons in the Grand Est region, there are plenty of races open to the general public throughout the region. Their motto: have fun and enjoy yourself. On your marks, get set? Get moving!

Alsace

September - Run and Dance

This autumn, why not discover Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace, in an athletic and colourful version? Ranging from 800 metres to 4 kilometres, the Run and Dance offers a range of routes to suit all levels. What they all have in common is that they're all very colourful! How does it work? The runners, all dressed in white, are sprayed with natural coloured powder at each stage. Once the race is over, continue your Strasbourg citytrip with a delicious interlude: pretzel, sauerkraut, flammekueche... After the effort, the comfort! Enjoy, you've earned it...

June - La Ruée des Fadas

Every spring, near Colmar, a race takes place that is far from going unnoticed in the Grand Est: the Ruée des Fadas de Logelheim! 2,500 runners in zany fancy dress set off merrily on an 8km course strewn with pitfalls. Mud pits, spider nets, inflatable pyramids, high palisades... A host of obstacles, each more extravagant than the last, await the fadas. And to round off this epic adventure in style, head for the Alsace Wine Route. On the programme for your wine escapade: grands crus, exceptional villages and the prestigious tables of Michelin-starred chefs... There are a thousand ways to discover Alsace!

Champagne

September - La Course 4C

Budding and experienced runners flock to the Champagne region for a sparkling race through the heart of Châlons-en-Champagne. Over a 5km course, runners of all speeds mix and mingle, with surprises in store at every turn: coloured powder, dancing, music groups... And lovers of architecture won't be left out! Saint-Etienne's cathedral, the French gardens of the Grand Jard and other heritage treasures of the city are all on display along the route. It's a memorable experience to be had in the city nicknamed Sparkling Venice!
