Sunrise or sunset: the best spots for a breathtaking view!

Another of the Grand Est's great assets is its sunrise and sunset spots. Here, you can sit back and admire the sights and create some wonderful memories.

Lac des Corbeaux in the Vosges

With its dense forests, valleys, lakes and rivers, the commune of La Bresse in the heart of the Hautes-Vosges boasts some splendid viewpoints. One of its hidden treasures is the Lac des Corbeaux: the perfect spot to watch the sun set! Taking the Roche du Lac path, it takes just 1? hours to reach the viewpoint, which leaves you speechless: the rolling hills surrounding the lake create a landscape of multiple reliefs, which takes on sublime hues at sunset.

We can't get enough of it: the last rays of sunshine warming our faces...

Lac Blanc in the Vosges

Head for the Vosges Massif for an invigorating but above all resplendent sunrise. From the Col de Calvaire, it's a 1? hour walk to the ridges before reaching the spot above Lac Blanc. You can see the Alsace plain, the Val d'Orbey and Rocher Hans, just below you, a spectacular viewpoint where the magic happens. The darkness gradually fades, giving way to the pastel colours of the horizon. The bonus: the bench provided to enjoy the view from the best angle.

The wow effect: when the sun finally rises into the sky, its light is projected onto the landscape to make it even more sublime.

La Roche à Sept Heures in the Ardennes

From the town of Monthermé in the Meuse valley, head for the heights to enjoy the sunset. Follow the paths through the woods and, with a view over the valley, reach the emblematic site of the Roche de Sept Heures after a 2? hour hike. The view over the winding meander of the Meuse bordered by the town of Monthermé is splendid: all the conditions are right for admiring the spectacle of the setting sun. We take our place on a rock, proud to have reached our destination and with the sunset as our reward.

The wow effect: the sparkling reflections of the setting sun on the River Meuse

The Lac des Vieilles Forges in the Ardennes

Surrounded by the broad-leaved trees and oaks of the Ardennes forest, you can take advantage of the cool morning air for a sunrise at the Lac des Vieilles Forges. On the sand, in a canoe or on a paddle-boat, you can sit back and admire the sparkling spectacle against a sky still dotted with stars. Coloured rays appear as the minutes tick by, with no sign of time passing...

Mirror mirror: in perfect symmetry, the water of the lake reflects the spectacle in the sky.

The captive balloon of Epernay in Champagne

As the capital of Champagne, Epernay is the perfect place to take to the skies and admire the vineyards from above. Aboard the tethered balloon in the centre of the town, you'll soar 150 metres above the ground. As you get higher, the landscape stretches as far as the eye can see: the prestigious buildings come and go, while the vineyards stretch on. The flamboyant red of the setting sun floods the Champagne countryside, and the little villages nestling on the hillsides make the most of the last few moments of light.

In the front row: floating in the air, you have a front row seat for the sunset!
