Guided tour of Raon l’Etape with its fountains and floating boats
Raon l’Étape boasts a remarkable collection of ornamental fountains. But do you know their history and why they’re there? Come and find out on this guided tour offered by the Tourist Office!
On this tour, you’ll discover an impressive collection of Greco-Latin ornamental fountains. This unique series comprises 12 fountains, 11 of which are listed as Monuments Historiques.
These works of art, inspired by the Greco-Roman era, will transport you back to the 19th century. Among them, the « Fontaine des Quatre Lions » (Fountain of Four Lions) stands out for its imposing griffin-like appearance, the emblem of Raon l’Étape.
In addition to the fountains, this tour also features a unique collection of 11 paintings, retracing the history of log driving. Carefully preserved in the Salon d’Honneur of the Hôtel de Ville, these works illustrate the era when rivers transported wood from many local sawmills before the arrival of the train. An enthusiastic guide will reveal more along the way.
Let yourself be carried away by the history of the town, its fountains and its river heritage! Book now!
