Guided walk
Looking for adventure and discovery? Let yourself be tempted by a guided hike and embark on a unique experience in the heart of the Argonne forest and the Moiremont ponds!
Concocted by the Couleurs d’Argonne Tourist Office, this immersive experience offers you the perfect opportunity to admire the beauty and mystery of these places.
The Argonne forest is a verdant setting of several massifs. This wooded expanse is dotted with deep ravines and narrow valleys, one of the most emblematic of which stretches for 25 kilometers, sheltering the course of the Biesme river.
Follow in your guide’s footsteps along its wooded paths. Discover the secrets of the forest, which was once the scene of gradual clearing during the first monastic foundations. It was during this period that villages such as Moiremont and Beaulieu en Argonne came into being.
In these places steeped in history, the imprint of wildlife is everywhere. The emblematic wild boar, deer, roe deer, foxes and hares find refuge in this forest and are sure to arouse your curiosity. Look up and admire the aerial ballet of birds of prey such as buzzards, goshawks and dunnocks, as they make their way across the Argonne sky.
But the Argonne forest is only part of the journey. The Moiremont ponds are the next stop on this adventure. These aquatic pearls, created by the monks of the Châtrices and Moiremont abbeys, were once dedicated to carp farming. Today, these ponds are a showcase of local biodiversity, home to a multitude of fish such as pike, carp, perch, roach and bream.
So let yourself be seduced, make a reservation and come and explore these landscapes!
