Step inside the door at 35 rue de la Commanderie in Nancy and meet Camille, who will welcome you into her bookbinding studio to introduce you to her craft and the techniques of this ancient art.
Trained in artistic bookbinding at the École Tolbiac and holder of the Brevet des Métiers d’Art, Camille will introduce you to the bookbinder’s tools and machinery: the paper cutter, the shears, the impact press, the end-gluing vise… You’ll learn how to determine the grain of the paper and how to distinguish between different types of leather. You’ll also learn more about the techniques used to assemble a book. Folding, cutting, punching, sewing, gluing, and binding—these techniques will hold no secrets for you!
Camille will provide all the advice you need to create a beautiful travel journal. Plus, you don’t need to bring any supplies to participate in this workshop—she’ll provide all the tools and materials necessary to bring your personalized project to life!
Camille will share with you her appreciation for beautiful things, her passion for her craft, and her commitment to preserving our cultural heritage. Over a cup of tea, she’ll point out the hidden gems of her neighborhood—little paths tucked away in a lesser-known part of Nancy with Art Nouveau heritage you won’t want to miss, such as the Jacques Pharmacy just a few steps from her studio.
You’ll leave with your travel journal, featuring a soft leather binding with a flap and beautiful exposed stitching, ready for all the wonderful adventures ahead—and why not (re)discover Nancy, a favorite destination for art lovers?

Workshops are organized for groups of at least 2 and up to 4 people. Open to everyone ages 14 and up.
Expect a small additional charge of a few euros if you choose handmade paper and/or high-end leather.

The Atelier-Boutique de Reliure d'Art "L'Arbre à Pages" located in Nancy (5 minutes from the train station) specializes in the design of high-end photo albums and guest books.
Come and meet Camille, who creates real jewel cases for your photographs and tokens of sympathy. In leather, paper or canvas, flexible or rigid, with hot stamping and box on request... Each creation is unique!
Camille also offers all types of bookbinding, traditional or contemporary, as well as a range of stationery (notebooks, sketchbooks, travel journals, notepads...) and cardboard (various boxes & cases, photo holders, chequebook protectors, coasters...) that can be personalized.
Whether it's a one-off or a small series, each request will be the subject of a free study and personalized quotation. All her bindings and boxes are entirely hand-made. Feel free to browse her online boutique, or make an appointment with her for your personal projects.
Open Tuesday to Thursday, 2pm to 5:30pm and Friday, 2pm to 5pm.
