Stone carving workshop
Meuse sculptor Angélique Jung offers an open-air stone sculpture workshop at the Abbaye des Prémontrés. Open to all, adults and children aged 9 and over, this 3-hour workshop combines the transmission of ancestral know-how with the pleasure of creation, in a friendly and caring atmosphere.
In the Galerie du Bord de l’Eau, located in the heart of the Cour d’Honneur garden, you’ll learn how to tame a rough block of local limestone. With a sledgehammer in hand, Angélique will guide you through the process of creating volume, sculpting the material to reveal the motif of your choice. To this manual step is added an artistic touch: coloring with natural pigments, inspired by ancient and medieval traditions.
This immersive, sensory experience will be punctuated by the tinkling of tools, personalized advice from the artist and the satisfaction of designing with your own hands. To round off the workshop in style, a sweet break will delight those with a sweet tooth.
Book now for this workshop offered by the Abbaye des Prémontrés, and come and experience a unique manual and artistic activity! It’s the perfect opportunity to discover the art of sculpture and the living heritage of Lorraine in a whole new way.
