Visit of the Tuilerie
While visiting the small village of Soulaines-Dhuys in the Aube region, don't miss a visit to the Tuilerie Potanale ROYER, an authentic family business that will take you back in time.
Did you know that a century ago, the Aube region had more than 100 tile factories? Today, there are only 2 left, including the ROYER Tile Factory. On your own, with your family or with friends, come and discover a craft know-how inherited from 5 generations. A know-how that the ROYER family has been offering to individuals, building companies and many French and even European historical monuments since 1850.
Their secret ? Respect for tradition and team spirit. You will be able to see for yourself during the visit of this living eco-museum in which bricks, tiles, pottery and of course roof tiles are made. For half an hour, the owners of the place will be pleased to show you the different stages of production of these quality terracotta products. And at the end of the visit, you will even be able to buy small souvenirs.

Tuilerie-poterie artisanale Royer Jean-Louis
For 6 generations, the Royer family has been using traditional techniques to transform the beautiful clay of the Aube region into flamed tiles, bricks, roof tiles and pottery in a 100 m3 wood-fired kiln.
A visit to the large kiln is an astonishing and mysterious moment when the alchemy of fire transforms the clay, after 9 days of firing, into building products that will last for generations.
Come and meet us in our workshops steeped in history, and rediscover the charm and authenticity of old-fashioned artisan production. Individual and group visits are organized all year round, and pottery courses are available by appointment.
