Workshop – Making a leather apron
Join Sarah, artisan saddler and harness-maker in Bergheim near Kaysersberg, for a unique creative experience: make your own leather apron. During this 2h30 workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the leather and accessories of your choice to create a practical and aesthetic apron that will protect you during your next jobs.
You’ll discover the saddler’s craft by learning how to pattern and cut the different parts of your apron before assembling them. You’ll also learn how to master the use of a footed knife to cut with precision, and how to make rivets to finish off your creation beautifully.
The workshop will begin with an introductory session to get to know each other, before moving on to the practical side. Once your apron is finished, you can present your creation to the other participants in a relaxed discussion over coffee, tea or homemade lemonade. Whether you’re passionate about leatherwork or just curious to learn more about the craft, this workshop is for you!

S.R. Equestrement Vôtre
Once I had my master’s degree in history and archaeology, and after a few months of reflection, I realized that, in order to combine my love of horses and my need to work with my hands, I needed to move towards a more manual profession. After a one year training at the Haras de La-Roche-sur-Yon with Michel Charrier (MOF), a period as a saddler and harness maker at the Ecomusée d’Alsace, I have been self-employed for more than 2 years. The heart of my know-how is the harnessing of horses, as well as other animals, such as oxen, goats and dogs for example. I also make different items of saddlery and leather goods, keeping some equestrian elements, like harness buckles and the leather used is usually the same as the one I use in the harnessing.
