Discovery of the Alsace-Moselle Memorial
Visit the Alsace-Moselle Memorial in Schirmeck and experience a high point in local history. Whether you’re a couple, a family or a group of friends, this tour takes you to the heart of Europe, from division to union.
The Memorial offers a dynamic, immersive tour of the special history of the Alsatians and Moselle, who changed nationality four times between 1871 and 1945, tossed back and forth between France and Germany, which explains the local cultures of these regions today.
From 1940 to 1945, Alsace and Moselle were the only part of France to be annexed by the Third Reich, and to experience the violence of a totalitarian regime on a daily basis. 1945 signaled the end of conflict and the desire to build a lasting peace!
The tour ends with a look at European integration: from the Europe of the six founding countries to the Europe of the twenty-seven, the whole European adventure is presented.

Mémorial Alsace-Moselle
Evoking the tumultuous history of this territory from 1870 to the construction of Europe, the Alsace-Moselle Memorial teaches us the need to unite Europeans in their diversity, while respecting the dignity of each individual, to offer them peace and freedom.
