Meet the Alsatian stork, at the Écomusée d’Alsace
At the Écomusée d’Alsace, take part in a unique experience combining discovery, history and nature. This veritable « stork village » is home to Alsace’s largest colony of white storks, a fascinating sight to behold, especially in June, when nesting is in full swing!
On this guided tour led by volunteer naturalists, learn more about this emblematic bird, once threatened with extinction. You’ll witness some unique moments: building nests, observing storks and listening to their characteristic crackling sounds. You’ll even have the chance to take home a feather as a souvenir of this unforgettable experience.
An emblem of Alsace, the white stork suffered a dramatic decline in the 1970s, coming close to extinction. Thanks to the commitment and hard work of enthusiasts, it has made a comeback and is now once again gracing the skies over Alsace.
The Écomusée d’Alsace doesn’t just offer stork watching, it also provides an exceptional natural setting and an immersion in Alsatian traditions. This activity is perfect for nature lovers and the curious who want to explore the region’s rich living heritage.
Book your visit now and join this captivating adventure. Experience a special moment with family and friends, up close and personal with storks, a symbol of rebirth and Alsatian beauty.

Ecomusée d'Alsace
L'ÉCOMUSÉE D'ALSACE, A TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN THE HEART OF NATURE
--
BUILDINGS & BIODIVERSITY
Today, the Ecomusée d'Alsace consists of a village of 80 buildings representative of Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century, all dismantled from their commune of origin and reassembled in the museum. Around the village, on an area of 97 hectares, you'll find 4 signposted trails to discover biodiversity, as well as agricultural areas in biological transition.
Be curious! Push open the door of each house to discover the treasures it contains: a converted interior, an exhibition, a craftsman's workshop or a stable with animals!

LABEL MUSÉE DE FRANCE
The Ecomusée d'Alsace boasts an exceptional collection of over 40,000 objects, reflecting the daily lives of Alsatians. When the museum was created in 1984, Alsatians became passionate about this adventure and began sending regular donations to the museum.
