Mi Fa Saulnois Festival – September 20 to October 26, 2024

From September 20 to October 26, 2024, join us for the 3rd edition of the Mi Fa Saulnois festival! Scheduled in the heart of the Pays du Saulnois, in the eastern part of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, this cultural event will honor the cello in all its diversity, under the prestigious patronage of Raphaël Jouan.

The festival opens with a captivating performance by the Quatuor Modigliani, masters of chamber music. Raphaël Jouan will perform Elgar’s concerto with the Symphonique de Thionville, offering an exceptional solo performance.

Innovative approaches to the cello will enrich this program. Discover new combinations of this instrument, including gypsy accents by François Salque and the Loco Cello group, or the Salque-Jouve-Fouchenneret trio. The Franco-Lebanese cellist and improviser Sary Khalife and the Beier-Grange cello-accordion duo will be offering their own unique worlds of sound. A special concert in Metz will also see Bruno Cocset and his ensemble Les Basses Réunies explore the origins of the cello.

The festival will also spotlight artists from the region. Cellist Cyrielle Golin, the Fantaisie Lyrique vocal ensemble, and accordionist Fabrice Bez and his jazz quartet with cellist Atsushi Sakai will be among the local talents shining at this event.

Concerts will be held at 9 different venues, each offering a unique immersion in the region’s cultural richness. A special concert at the church in Tincry will feature Lucile Dollat and Thibaut Reznicek, accompanying the cello in an original performance.

To close the festival, an exceptional double bill will feature the Bleue Quintet, fusing electronic and neoclassical music with 5 cellos. The Saxback Ensemble, comprising 2 clarinets, 3 saxophones and 1 saxhorn, will transport you with its arrangements and authentic creations.
