Visit the castle of Lichtenberg, jewel of the Northern Vosges
Visit a castle like no other! From the terraces of Château de Lichtenberg, 9 centuries of history await visitors. At one time a seigneurial residence, at another a garrison, and today a cultural and tourist attraction, this "ship of the centuries" has stood the test of time and is now a must-see in Alsace and the Northern Vosges. It's perfect for solo, group or family exploration.
Nestled at an altitude of over 400 metres, the castle offers a beautiful view of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park. On a clear day, you can even see the spire of Strasbourg cathedral. The château is open to the public and offers a wide range of facilities. An exhibition area, a discovery trail with manipulative games and explanatory panels will reveal all the secrets of the site. Self-guided tours last around 1h30.
The permanent exhibition "Le château de Lichtenberg, un chantier perpétuel" ("Lichtenberg Castle, a perpetual construction site") allows you to discover the castle's architectural evolution over the centuries and immerse yourself in over 800 years of history! A series of interactive workshops will give adults and children alike the chance to practise their architectural skills, discovering the different eras of construction, as well as going behind the scenes of the castle's contemporary restoration.
In 2025, come and discover a more immersive tour, reinvented and punctuated by playful installations. You'll be able to discover the stories of real or fictional characters who will tell you the history of the château through sounds, projections and other creative settings for a journey through time and history!
