Abbaye de Moyenmoutier: The Baroque
Discover the secrets of Moyenmoutier Abbey on a guided tour! Founded in 671 by Saint Hydulphe, this « monastery in the middle » rises majestically on the banks of the Rabodeau. Let yourself be seduced by its Baroque elegance!
Moyenmoutier Abbey is a remarkable example of Baroque art in Lorraine. It stands out for its impressive dimensions: 30 m high, 60 m long and 16 m wide. Its unique architecture, with no exterior buttresses or interior columns, rests on a framework in the shape of an inverted ship’s hull.
The abbey’s gardens invite you to take a peaceful stroll, where you can appreciate the tranquility of the surroundings. An enthusiastic guide will be on hand to tell you all about the site’s history. For children, the presence of at least one adult is required.
