Step back in time to the First World War with this guided tour of the Nécropole Nationale des Tiges. Organized by the Office du Tourisme Intercommunal de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, this tour will introduce you to a place steeped in history.
Discover the must-seesites in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. On the program, leave from the heart of the town and stop off at the war memorial, before continuing on to the Tour de la Liberté lookout. Here, you’ll enjoy a strategic view of the surrounding topography. Then, aboard a shuttle bus, discover the Nécropole Nationale des Tiges, a monument recently listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, marking the history of the Déodatie region during the First World War.
On this tour, you’ll learn more about the heavy losses suffered during the Battle of Saint-Dié in trench warfare, both at the front and in the rear, by Alpine chasseurs and mountain troops alike.
