Discover plants and their virtues – Rendez-vous nature at the Ecomusée d’Alsace
Are you a nature lover? The Écomusée d’Alsace’s corporation of volunteer naturalists invites you to take part in its « rendez-vous nature » to explore the museum’s natural spaces. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll learn how to identify and exploit the healing properties of the plants around you.
The Écomusée d’Alsace is a living reconstruction of an Alsatian village from the early 20ᵉ century. Recognized as France’s largest open-air museum, it houses an exceptional collection of historic buildings and everyday objects, perpetuating the region’s traditions and craft skills.
Located in Ungersheim, a commune in ecological transition, the Écomusée d’Alsace is a fervent protector of the environment. Established over 30 years ago on a former Potash Mine industrial wasteland, the site is now a haven for biodiversity. With its diverse habitats, including villages, fields, forests, ponds and rivers, it is home to almost 5,000 listed species.
Several areas have been set aside to raise public awareness of nature conservation. During this session focused on discovering plants and their virtues, you’ll explore gardens, vegetable gardens, meadows and surrounding forests to learn how to recognize the various local medicinal plants, their traditional uses and their health benefits. Get practical advice on how to pick, prepare and use them safely. The tour ends with a tasting of home-made syrups and herbal teas, concocted from local plants.
Why not extend this enriching experience at the Écomusée d’Alsace throughout the afternoon? Nature events give access to the whole site and its activities, excluding those for which admission is charged. Free parking is available for your convenience.
Say yes to the call of nature and come and discover the hidden virtues of plants at this unique rendez-vous. Book your place now!

Ecomusée d'Alsace
L'ÉCOMUSÉE D'ALSACE, A TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN THE HEART OF NATURE
--
BUILDINGS & BIODIVERSITY
Today, the Ecomusée d'Alsace consists of a village of 80 buildings representative of Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century, all dismantled from their commune of origin and reassembled in the museum. Around the village, on an area of 97 hectares, you'll find 4 signposted trails to discover biodiversity, as well as agricultural areas in biological transition.
Be curious! Push open the door of each house to discover the treasures it contains: a converted interior, an exhibition, a craftsman's workshop or a stable with animals!

LABEL MUSÉE DE FRANCE
The Ecomusée d'Alsace boasts an exceptional collection of over 40,000 objects, reflecting the daily lives of Alsatians. When the museum was created in 1984, Alsatians became passionate about this adventure and began sending regular donations to the museum.
