Initiation to the sabrage of champagne like Napoleon!
Did you know that champagne sabering was an art that dates back to the Napoleonic era? In the heart of a prosperous vineyard located in the village of Boursault, Champagne Le Gallais invites you to an initiation to this beautiful tradition.
History tells us that Napoleon opened a bottle of champagne with the back of his sword. This is how the art of champagne sabering was born, a tradition that has been perpetuated ever since, to symbolize a happy event. Immerse yourself in this fascinating tradition during a wine tourism stay at Champagne Les Gallais. While tasting the subtle flavors of the estate's products, you will also be able to admire the authentic scenery that awaits you.
Champagne Le Gallais welcomes you in an enchanting setting where you can participate in a workshop designed to transform you into a master of sabrage. Accompanied by a guide during the activity, you will start your learning on empty bottles before moving on to full bottles.
In addition to the traditional technique, you will learn other atypical ways of sabering champagne such as sabering with an axe or with other objects.
You will then have the opportunity to enjoy your hard work by toasting your success and progress!

CHAMPAGNE LE GALLAIS
Charlotte Le Gallais and her team cultivate 4 hectares of vines in the historic Clos du Château de Boursault, owned by the family since 1927. The 3 Champenois grape varieties are cultivated there and divided into 7 parcels in the four corners of the property. The Domain is now certified High Environmental Value.
The press, the cellars and the winery are also located in the vineyard, a few hundred meters away from the most distant plot, which guarantees a great freshness of the fruit at the time of its pressing and its transformation.
Today we welcome visitors to the Domaine to share our passion, from the vine to the flute. Within this 16th century Clos, unique in Champagne, we have built a confidential glass roof offering a 180° view on the vineyard of the Marne Valley and on the towers of the Château in order to share privileged and intimate moments with our visitors.
