The Prestige Daytime Experience
Discover the most famous Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards and villages in the Champagne region around Epernay: the Côte des Blancs Grand Cru, famous for its Chardonnay, and the Vallée de la Marne with its historic hillsides listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and planted mainly with Pinot Noir. Visit 2 families of producers and taste a wide range of Champagnes.
On this day, you'll discover the famous Côte des Blancs, the kingdom of Chardonnay Grand Cru, and the Marne Valley, with its historic hillsides listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Champagne was born.
Our discovery tour of the vineyards and villages of the Côte des Blancs takes us past the Château de Saran, the prestigious property of the LVMH group (Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot...) and the production site of Champagne Moët & Chandon.
We'll also take a guided tour of the famous Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, the capital of the Champagne vineyards, where you'll find the superb properties and production buildings of Champagne Moët & Chandon, Perrier Jouët, Pol Roger and others.
We'll visit 2 families of independent winegrowers/producers over several generations, with explanations of the champagne-making process and tours of the presses, vats and cellars.
You'll taste a range of Grand Cru and Premier Cru Champagnes: Champagne nature non dosé, extra brut, vieilles vignes, vintages, aged in oak barrels and parcel wines. Tastings include commentary and tasting tips.
In addition to the Champagnes, there will be tastings of 3 famous Champagne spirits: Ratafia, Fine de la Marne and Marc de Champagne from Distillerie Goyard, Champagne's oldest distillery.
Did you know that the village of Aÿ-Champagne was the main center of the Champagne industry in the 16th century, and still holds a very special place? The kings of France had their own wine presses here, and Champagne wines were formerly known as "Vins d'Aÿ".
The historic Coteaux d'Aÿ are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the vineyards, famous for their Pinot Noir, are classified at the highest level of the Appellation as Grand Cru. This is where we'll take you on a tour of the vineyards, where we'll tell you all about the work of the vines, the grape varieties, this exceptional terroir and sustainable viticulture.
We'll also stop off in front of the headquarters of renowned Champagne houses such as Bollinger, Deutz and Ayala. We'll pass through other Premier Cru villages and vineyards, including Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, home to Champagne houses Billecart-Salmon and Philipponnat.
In the famous village of Hautvillers, known as "the cradle of Champagne", we'll also thank Dom Pérignon at his tomb during a visit to the church where he officiated as a monk for decades. We'll tell you his story and that of Champagne, and you'll finally find out whether or not he was the inventor of Champagne!
We'll also stop off to admire one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Marne Valley, exactly where Dom Pérignon carried out all his experiments. It's the perfect spot in the heart of the vineyards for unforgettable photos of you and the breathtaking scenery.
For lunch, we've selected some of the most popular champagne and food bars in the area to share a convivial moment*. On the menu, to accompany your flutes of Champagne (one bottle for 2) for example: gourmet boards of charcuterie and cheese with bread and salad, farmhouse ready meals, terrines, pâtés, regional cookies and coffees.
