Traditional tour and tasting
Located in Mittelwihr, in the heart of Alsace’s vineyards, Domaine Specht opens its doors to you for a guided tour. In the company of passionate winemakers, discover the history and expertise of this family-run business.
Founded in 1955 by Alfred Specht, the estate is now run by Benjamin and Thibault, the third generation of independent winegrowers. The estate extends over 10 hectares, divided into 40 parcels in Mittelwihr, each with its own specific approach. The vines, located on the sub-Vosgian hills overlooking the village, take full advantage of the local microclimate. Mittelwihr is famous for its Grand Cru « Mandelberg », a clay-limestone hill remarkable for its almond trees in bloom in spring.
The Specht estate produces a wide range of Alsace wines and organizes numerous wine tourism activities. Proudly bearing the « vigneron récoltant » label, their wines are precisely crafted. 7 grape varieties are used to produce white wines, crémants, rosés and reds. Each wine bears the name of the grape variety from which it was made.
On this guided tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the winery. You’ll learn about the subtleties of the winemaker’s craft, and the use of foudres, barrels and stainless steel tanks in the winemaking process. The tour ends with a tasting of the estate’s finest wines, accompanied by a kougelhopf or pretzel.
