Visit and tasting at Domaine François Schmitt
Enjoy a magnificent oenological experience in Alsace with a visit and tasting at Maison François Schmitt. Come and meet a family of passionate winemakers spanning several generations, who have embarked on a whole new range of organic wines.
From father to son, production continues to evolve and cover the vines established in the heart of the village of Orschwihr. The 13-hectare estate is spread over the famous Bollenberg and Grand Cru Pfringstberg hillsides.
Trained as a viticulturist, Frédéric now runs the estate after perfecting his skills in Rouffach and Beaune. Since then, the estate has devoted itself to a viticulture that emphasizes terroir, with the aim of harvesting grapes at their optimum level of ripeness. The Grand Cru range was launched in 2005, following organic principles, and since 2010 has been extended to the entire domaine.
Discover the winemaker’s craft through this visit and tasting. On the program, discover wines and crémants, followed by explanations on late harvesting and noble grape varieties. Take a tour of the winery and other facilities involved in liqueur production. Enjoy a complimentary tasting of a selection of 5 wines, all from the estate.
The activity is suitable for people with reduced mobility, and free parking is available for your convenience.

SAS FRANCOIS SCHMITT
Nestled in a valley, south of the Alsace Wine Route, our family estate enjoys a unique environment, ideal for producing great terroir wines.
Farming 13 hectares on the slopes of the Bollenberg (clay-limestone: Oolithic and Oligocene limestone) and Grand Cru Pfingstberg (calcareous – Muschelkalk and Buntsandstein sandstone), our philosophy is to express the terroir through our wines, respecting organic and biodynamic farming methods.
