Visit the Prieuré de Viverie and taste champagne
During your trip to the Côte des Bar in Champagne, come and discover 800 years of history and, if you wish, taste some exceptional champagnes: one or two Robert-Grandpierre cuvées, as well as a "Prieuré de Viverie" vintage.
The least we can say is that the Prieuré de Viverie does not go unnoticed. This imposing building, founded in 1180, stands like an impassive fortress above the village. Formerly linked to the abbey of Montiéramey, which has now disappeared, this former Benedictine priory has been reborn under the impetus of Céline and Vincent Grandpierre, winegrowers since 1705. The couple has brought it back to life by reuniting it with part of its vineyards.
Renovated in 2002, the Prieuré de Viverie regained its original wine-making vocation. Combining contemporary architecture and medieval cellars, this new wine tourism site is today a unique estate in Champagne. While visiting its vaulted cellars, discover the work of the vine and the Champagne winemaking process through explanations and audiovisual animations. Tastings will take place in the heart of the barrel and in the Sinots room, where the works of contemporary artists are on display.
Robert-Grandpierre champagnes are the result of more than 300 years of family practice and are made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which cover a large part of the Côte des Bar region. As for the "Prieuré de Viverie" champagnes, they are the result of a selection of parcels of land that gives them a remarkable taste, enough to awaken your senses... This activity can be done alone, as a couple or with friends (maximum 10 people per session).
