Micro-adventure “Rando à l’assaut des Châteaux” starting from Colmar in Kut’Zig

A "Rando à l'assaut des Châteaux", during which you'll discover Alsace's ancient fortified dwellings in all their authenticity.

Ready for adventure? Meet us in Colmar at 8:30 a.m., and climb aboard the Kut'zig. Heading for the wine route, this convertible bus will take you through lush, rural landscapes along the way, before stopping in Ribeauvillé. From this charming village, walk up to the Saint Ulrich to reach the largest of the 3 castles that dominate the town. The round trip will take you 2 hours, but for the more adventurous, you can continue on to Hunawihr before boarding the Kut'zig again.

Arriving in Kaysersberg, you'll be treated to a gourmet picnic freshly concocted by a local bakery. Take advantage of this short break to appreciate the beauty of the village, and sit down in one of its squares to enjoy your lunch. Alternatively, head for the Château du Schlossberg for an imperial picnic high above the village. The 13th-century château has been listed as a historic monument since 1841.

After a 4-wine tasting at a Turckheim winemaker's, this micro-adventure will take you to Eguisheim, the village voted "favorite of the French" in 2013. Take time to contemplate its half-timbered houses, then make your way to the fortified complex of the Château des Comtes d'Eguisheim. Dedicated to Leon IX, the pope who was born in the village, the chapel's neo-Byzantine architecture will captivate you.
