Vendeuvre-sur-Barse, the industrial town – Guided tour
Welcome to Vendeuvre-sur-Barse! Known for its industrial heritage, this small town in the Forêt d’Orient Regional Nature Park was once the site of the extraction of materials such as iron, wood and clay. The town’s reputation was forged by the development of its industrial activities: the Sainterie, which produced many religious statues, and the Vendeuvre tractor factory.
Alain, your guide, will tell you all about the town’s surprising history and take you on a tour of its remarkable buildings: Saint-Pierre church, the priory, the Place de la Halle… And of course, its castle, which, according to legend, was built by the fairy Mélusine.
This 1h30 guided tour is open to adults and children aged 12 and over. It is offered by appointment in low season, and every Tuesday at 2pm in July and August from the Place du 8 Mai 1945.
Let yourself be surprised by the unusual history of this charming town!
