  • The medieval town of Ervy-le-Châtel

This new stage takes you from the Riceys vineyards to the gateway to the Pays d'Othe, through the enchanting landscapes of the Pays d'Armance. With its valleys, ponds and vast forests, this undulating route offers magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding countryside!

Leaving Les Riceys, you enter the Armance basin. Here you'll discover a multitude of valleys dotted with ponds, pastures and deciduous forests. This fragrant terrain immerses you in unspoilt, authentic nature. The route alternates between ascents and descents... perfect for adding a little relief to your day!

The Raid Bulles then takes you through the communal forest of Marolles-sous-Lignières, where you skirt the Marolles pond. This peaceful lake, created from the Madeleine stream, is a haven of tranquillity in the heart of the woods. After a pleasant crossing of the Bois du Parc, you approach Ervy-le-Châtel on a long straight stretch under a forest canopy. These passages in the shade of the trees are a well-deserved refreshing break before arriving at your destination!

Your day ends in Ervy-le-Châtel, a village with the "Petite Cité de Caractère" label. This former stronghold, perched on the foothills of the Forêt d'Othe, is home to many architectural and historical treasures. Don't miss the three-storey circular timber-framed market hall, a unique building dating from the early 19th century that now houses the Tourist Office. Another must-see is the church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens, remarkable for its old and contemporary stained glass windows and its 16th-century statuary. The medieval town also boasts the Porte Saint-Nicolas, the last surviving medieval gateway in Aube! Cycle under this gate before hitting the road again.
