  • The village of Verzenay

By car from Reims, set off on the road to Verzenay! In the heart of the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park, drive through picturesque villages and Champagne vineyards.

Before pulling out of second gear, take the time to discover the treasures of the Cité des Sacres: Notre-Dame de Reims cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage site); the Hôtel Le Vergeur and the Villa Demoiselle, an architectural masterpiece combining Art Nouveau and Art Deco; the church of Saint Rémi and the Champagne houses for tours and tastings... And don't miss the Butte Saint Nicaise and its UNESCO-listed chalk pits, as well as the Musée de la Pompelle.

If you're a car enthusiast, you're in for a treat! On the D27, you can take in part of the legendary Reims-Gueux circuit, where Juan Manuel Fangio ran his last grand prix in 1958. You'll also be following in the footsteps of other famous drivers such as Trintignant, Beltoise and Pescarolo.

You enter the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park, a unique area comprising 65 villages, including Coulommes-la-Montagne and Pargny-lès-Reims. You form a loop towards the Tardenois, between the villages of Bouilly, Courmas and Villedommange, home to the Saint-Lié chapel, which offers a panoramic view over the plain of Reims.

Then take the road to the wine-producing villages of the "Petite Montagne", symbols of Champagne. After admiring the spire of the church at Sacy and the bulbous bell tower at Sacy, you'll have a chance to meet the winegrowers of Champagne and taste their best cuvée*. You might even come across a few cyclists on the Parc de la Montagne de Reims V5101 cycle route!

For a bucolic break, stroll through the narrow streets of Rilly-la-Montagne or Chigny-les-Roses. Discover the local walks, such as the Escapade du Parc "Si Rilly-la-Montagne m'était conté" or the Sentier de découverte de Mailly-Champagne. At the end of the tour, stop off at the Moulin de Verzenay, with its magnificent views over the Champagne vineyards, or at the Phare de Verzenay, home to an eco-museum dedicated to the vine.
