From Verzenay, enjoy the exceptional natural setting of the Verzy forest, before driving from village to village to discover the local heritage of the Marne and Champagne regions.
After a stop at the Verzenay mill and lighthouse, head a few kilometres south to explore Verzy and its Mont Sinaï, a listed historic monument. Keep your eyes peeled for a 180° panorama of the Reims plain! Don't miss the famous orientation table in the national forest. This forest is home to the famous "Faux de Verzy" beech trees, which have been protected since 1932. You can even see around a hundred of these trees on a path that has been awarded the Tourism & Handicap label. If you take to the road with your family, be sure to try out the "Le secret du Chêne à la Vierge" app, a 3.6 km trail with 10 stations.
Continue towards Trépail, then on to Epernay via Ambonnay, Condé-sur-Marne, Tours-sur-Marne and Bouzy. Here, you can taste the famous red "coteau champenois" made in Bouzy, and why not observe the "Bouzy-Bouzy" iris. Louvois, with its Château and private gardens, is also well worth a visit, while Fontaine-sur-Aÿ, with two rivers running through it, is the perfect place to stretch your legs. Then there's a choice of routes in Avenay-Val-d'Or: one takes you to Mutigny, with its breathtaking views over the Marne Valley, while the Sentier du vigneron offers a 2.2 km walking loop.
After visiting the Parcours René Lalique, dedicated to the master glassmaker in Aÿ-Champagne, a Petite Cité de Caractère®, and Pressoria, the sensory interpretation centre for Champagne wines, take the road toEpernay.
This stage comes to an end in front of the Tourist Office, on the mythical Avenue de Champagne. This avenue is lined with splendid private mansions... Don't hesitate to take a stroll before your next stop!
