Between the vineyards of Champagne, meadows, woods and picturesque villages, take to the road along the Champagne Tourist Route and discover one landscape after another!
Embark on a royal Champagne itinerary! Your journey begins in Coligny, in the heart of the Val des Marais and at the foot of Mont Aimé. Then it's on to Étoges, where you'll discover a magnificent listed château. A former staging post for the Kings of France on the Route de l'Est, its parkland and ponds are the perfect setting for a bucolic break before hitting the road!
After a short detour via Fèrebrianges, head for Champaubert, where you will discover a column commemorating Napoleon's victories on 10 February 1814.
Want to take a trip back in time? Head for Bannay, where you can admire the famous Dolmen du Reclus: an ancient collective burial site built between 3500 BC and 2900 BC. In fact, the Petit Morin Valley is the only region of the Marne to be dotted with Neolithic monuments such as dolmens, menhirs and hypogeums.
Your historic itinerary continues in Baye, where the village castle awaits you. Worth exploring: the chapel of Saint-Alpin, listed as a historic monument. A real jewel of the Marne's heritage. The Champagne Tourist Route then takes you to Coizard-Joches, home to the Grotte du Razet. This is a necropolis dating back thousands of years.
If you're looking for something a little greener, set foot in the heart of the Marais de Saint-Gond, a Natura 2000 site. Keep your eyes peeled for a superb carnation or a large moat. Your nature break continues in the Marais de Reuves Regional Nature Reserve, following La Reinette, a 2-kilometre signposted footpath open from 1 April to 30 August. Along the way, you'll come face to face with the Monument national de la Victoire de la Marne, a towering ochre concrete monolith commemorating the First Battle of the Marne.
When you visit Reuves, don't miss the chance to meet some passionate winegrowers! They'll show you their expertise, share their production process and invite you to taste their authentic cuvées, true reflections of the Champagne terroir.
