The mountains in summer

Can you feel the summer breeze of freedom? That's what our mountain resorts are all about! With summer just around the corner, enjoy our outdoor activities and get away from it all in the heart of a magnificent landscape!

Balade au lac des Corbeaux

Breathtaking scenery in the mountains of Eastern France

Escaping to the Vosges in summer is a bit like collecting postcard scenery. Between lakes, waterfalls, ridges and forests, our mountains boast a variety of landscapes, each more fascinating than the last.

Make the most of a welcome cool dip in the forest to reach one of the many waterfalls that dot the landscape of the Grand Est region, such as those at Saut des Cuves or Mérelle, near Gérardmer !
The many lakes in the region invite you to recharge your batteries by the water in a green setting. Lac Blanc, Lac de Gérardmer, Lac du Lispach and the more private Lac des Truites will all charm you with their idyllic atmosphere.

Accessible and family-friendly, the mountains of the Grand Est can also be enjoyed at altitude. From the top of these gentle, rounded mountains, you can take the mythical Route des Crêtes, which runs from La Bresse from summit to summit: Hohneck, Grand Ballon, Markstein... Open your eyes wide: the valley, its fir trees and lakes reveal themselves in a fascinating panorama.

      Our fun activities

The Nature Parks and their wild treasures

During your stay, immerse yourself in mountain nature with a walk in one of the two regional nature parks.

The Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park is home to an exceptional forest area nestling between the Lorraine plateau and the Alsace plain. The Vosges du Nord-Pfälzerwald cross-border biosphere reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, forms a precious ocean of greenery, committed to protecting remarkable ecosystems. Further south, the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park is home to a vast array of natural environments, including high stubble fields, lakes, pastures and peat bogs.

Take the opportunity to observe the flora and fauna on a walk accompanied by a guide. Your guide will show you the wild treasures hidden behind the Vosges mountains and fir trees. Watch out for chamois, follow the scent of wild flowers, climb cliffs or go fishing... With family or friends, take a walk in the heart of this breathtaking natural environment for a real break that smells of freedom!

        Outdoor activities and experiences

When the heat arrives on the plains, it's a good time to get away from it all. And that's just as well, because there's no shortage of outdoor activities in our mountain resorts.

Under the protective shade of the trees, set off on a treetop adventure course before savouring the pleasures of hiking on one of the many signposted trails. Discover the Traversée du Massif des Vosges, for example, an emblematic long-distance hiking route that criss-crosses the Vosges massif from north to south over more than 400 kilometres, including the Lac Blanc resort!

If you're a thrill-seeker or enjoy a bit of fun, take to the skies in a paraglider, or dive into the refreshing water at one of the water sports centres! Two-wheeled enthusiasts can hurtle down the slopes on mountain bikes, or try their hand at electric-assisted mountain biking for a gentle way to explore the massif. This summer, say yes to adventure in the Vosges mountains.

Ideas for breaks and unusual accommodation in the mountains

Add a special dimension to your stay in the mountains by booking unusual accommodation: a tree house, a tiny house with a Nordic bath or a vintage lodge tent... live at nature's pace and make unforgettable memories with family and friends.

          A historic and gastronomic heritage that's a must-see!

Here, the mountains form an incredible backdrop to exceptional traditions. While you're on holiday, get off the beaten track and let yourself be guided on a cultural tour.

Memory, the textile industry, handicrafts, confectionery-making... the Vosges is brimming with fascinating expertise. And don't hesitate to visit the many remains of fortified castles on a walk, such as those at Fleckenstein, Lichtenberg or Haut-Barr. Built from the famous Vosges sandstone, they are scattered throughout the mountains. If you like panoramic views, head for the Donon, the sacred mountain of the massif, or the Dabo rock, an extraordinary pink sandstone rock overlooking the Sarrebourg region.

And when you feel the need for a gourmet break, treat yourself to a table in one of the region's best farmhouse inns. There, you can enjoy the unmissable Marcaire meal, made up of local gastronomic specialities such as tofailles, roast potatoes with bacon, bacon and onions, or the famous blueberry tart (also known as brimbelles in the Vosges), before heading back home.
