Highlights

  • Nancy: Place Stanislas and the 18th century UNESCO World Heritage site, museums, Parc de la Pépinière, Nancy macaroons and bergamots

This 4th stage of the Voie Bleue takes you on a journey through different eras, leaving behind the Renaissance architecture of Pont-à-Mousson to discover the fabulous classical and Art Nouveau heritage of Nancy. And don't forget Lorraine' s emblematic gastronomic specialities!

You leave Pont-à-Mousson for Dieulouard and its castle. Originally a stronghold built around the year 1000, the castle became an imposing fortress in the 14th century. Its remains now house a small Gallo-Roman museum. Further on, Frouard marks the confluence of the Meurthe and Moselle rivers.

Continuing on towards the ducal city, the route will take you to La Douëra in Malzéville, a surprising residence of oriental inspiration. Stroll through its typical 19th-century garden, wander its paths and admire its rich and varied landscaped heritage.

To round off your day, Nancy opens its golden gates to you! Admire its 18th-century UNESCO World Heritage site, including the famous Place Stanislas, voted France's Favourite Monument! Stroll through the narrow streets of the Old Town, visit its many museums, discover its Art Nouveau heritage or enjoy nature at the Parc de la Pépinière. If you've got a sweet tooth, don't miss Nancy's sweet treats: macaroons, bergamots or mirabelle plums - what will you fall for?

This stage is sometimes on shared lanes, sometimes on the cycle route along the canal. Be very careful after Custines when crossing the RD40, and then along this road where there is a lot of HGV traffic. When you arrive in Nancy, follow the "Boucle de la Moselle" signs on the left bank and then on the right bank of the Meurthe.

At Custines, you can take the "Boucle de la Moselle" route, which allows you to bypass Nancy.

You are advised to follow the alternative routes set up in the event of roadworks.
