Discovering the wild Moselle

Leave the ducal city behind and head for the Vosges. Throughout this stage, the route reveals a completely different side of the Moselle.

The Voie Bleue route leaves Nancy on a beautiful green corridor along the Meurthe and the junction canal.
At Jarville-la-Malgrange, you reach the Château de Montaigu and its park. A veritable jewel case of greenery, this park skilfully blends English-style parkland and formal gardens. The château is joined by the Féru des sciences, a museum that will add to your knowledge of the iron and steel industry in Lorraine. The cycle route continues towards Charmes, with a complete change of scenery! Here, the Moselle takes on a pastoral and wilder aspect. You follow the towpath of the Canal des Vosges, where the crossing of the canal bridge at Flavigny-sur-Moselle marks this stage. You can see the Art Nouveau-style Villa des Sources and enjoy a lovely view of the wild Moselle.

Shortly before you arrive in Charmes, Bainville-aux-Miroirs is the largest nature reserve in Meurthe-et-Moselle, with more than 130 species of regional and national interest.
An interpretation trail along the wild Moselle provides a better understanding of the river and its unique flora and fauna. You can also see the ruins of the medieval castle, where the keep still stands, rising like a needle into the sky.
