Highlights

  • Jarville-la-Malgrange: Parc et château de Montaigu, Le Féru des sciences museum

  • Flavigny-sur-Moselle: the canal bridge

  • Bainville-aux-Miroirs: the largest nature reserve in Meurthe-et-Moselle

Leave the ducal city behind and head for the Vosges. Throughout this stage, the route reveals a completely different side of the Moselle.

The Voie Bleue route leaves Nancy on a beautiful green corridor along the Meurthe and the junction canal.
At Jarville-la-Malgrange, you reach the Château de Montaigu and its park. A veritable jewel case of greenery, this park skilfully blends English-style parkland and formal gardens. The château is joined by the Féru des sciences, a museum that will add to your knowledge of the iron and steel industry in Lorraine. Here, all the secrets of iron will be revealed to you: from mining to industrial exploitation, you'll know everything there is to know about the subject!

The cycle route continues towards Charmes, with a complete change of scenery! Here, the Moselle takes on a pastoral and wilder aspect. You follow the towpath of the Canal des Vosges, where the crossing of the canal bridge at Flavigny-sur-Moselle marks this stage. You can see the Art Nouveau-style Villa des Sources and enjoy a lovely view of the wild Moselle.

Shortly before you arrive in Charmes, Bainville-aux-Miroirs is the largest nature reserve in Meurthe-et-Moselle, with more than 130 species of regional and national interest.
An interpretation trail along the wild Moselle provides a better understanding of the river and its unique flora and fauna. You can also see the ruins of the medieval castle, where the keep still stands, rising like a needle into the sky.

From Nancy, follow the "Boucle de la Moselle" signs and then take the Meurthe canal. At Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, the Voie Bleue follows the junction canal linking the Meurthe and Moselle rivers. Be careful at the public transport platform: you are travelling on a very steep gradient with no visibility! Also be careful crossing the RD570 near the A33 and at the turbines (RD115).
If you are cycling the Boucle de la Moselle, it is possible to join this stage at the junction with the Canal des Vosges.

Cyclists are advised to exercise extreme caution and to follow the diversions put in place in the event of roadworks.
