Create your leather travel book with Camille, bookbinder in Nancy

Push open the door at 35 rue de la Commanderie in Nancy and meet Camille, who welcomes you to her bookbinding workshop to help you discover her craft and the techniques of this ancient art.

Trained in the art of bookbinding at the École Tolbiac and holder of the « brevet des métiers d’art », Camille will show you the tools of the bookbinder and the machines used: the guillotine, the shears, the percussion press, the backing vice… You’ll learn how to find the direction of the paper, how to differentiate between different types of leather. Learn more about book assembly techniques. Folding, cutting, drilling, sewing, gluing, binding… you’ll know all about it!

Camille will give you all the advice you need to make a success of your travel book. What’s more, you don’t need to bring any supplies to take part in this workshop, as she’ll provide you with all the tools and materials you need to complete your personalized project!

Camille will share with you her taste for beautiful things, her passion for her craft and the preservation of our cultural heritage. Over a cup of tea, she’ll show you the secret passages of her neighborhood, the little paths hidden away in a little-known Nancy, and the Art Nouveau heritage not to be missed, like the Jacques pharmacy just a few steps from her workshop.
