Camille, a bookbinder in Nancy, offers several workshops to help you discover different bookbinding techniques. In this one, she’ll introduce you to the flat-bound method, and help you make your own notebook!

Trained in bookbinding at the École Tolbiac and holder of the « brevet des métiers d’art », Camille will introduce you to the bookbinder’s tools and machines: the guillotine, the shears, the percussion press, the backing vice… You’ll learn how to find the direction of paper and cardboard, and how to differentiate between leathers. Learn more about book assembly techniques. Folding, cutting, drilling, sewing, gluing, binding… you’ll know all about it!

Camille will guide you and give you all the advice you need to make a success of your book. Thanks to its hard cover and soft spine, this notebook will come in handy every day for writing or drawing, with the added pride of having made it yourself! Camille will provide you with the tools and materials you need in her workshop, so you can work together to create this unique notebook.

Prices

From €115. 2-person workshops for a maximum of 4 people. Open to everyone aged 14 and over. A few euros extra if you choose handmade paper and top-of-the-range leather.

L'Arbre à Pages - Camille AUBERT

The Atelier-Boutique de Reliure d'Art "L'Arbre à Pages" located in Nancy (5 minutes from the train station) specializes in the design of high-end photo albums and guest books.

Come and meet Camille, who creates real jewel cases for your photographs and tokens of sympathy. In leather, paper or canvas, flexible or rigid, with hot stamping and box on request... Each creation is unique!

Camille also offers all types of bookbinding, traditional or contemporary, as well as a range of stationery (notebooks, sketchbooks, travel journals, notepads...) and cardboard (various boxes & cases, photo holders, chequebook protectors, coasters...) that can be personalized.

Whether it's a one-off or a small series, each request will be the subject of a free study and personalized quotation. All her bindings and boxes are entirely hand-made. Feel free to browse her online boutique, or make an appointment with her for your personal projects.

Open Tuesday to Friday, 2pm to 5:30pm.
