Shuttle bus procession St Nicolas de Port
Planning to spend the festive season in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle)? On December 7, 2024, don't miss the 779th religious procession to Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. Go to rue Saint-Léon at 7 p.m. to board the shuttle bus that will take you to the little town.
It's confirmed: this year, the Saint-Nicolas parade is back! Departure for the religious procession is at 7.15pm. Head a few kilometers south of Nancy. After half an hour's drive, you'll arrive at the Basilica of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port, just in time to watch the procession begin at 8:30pm.
The origins of this pilgrimage date back to the 11th century, in other words to the Middle Ages. This emotionally-charged spiritual event brings together lovers of Lorraine's patron saint, churchgoers and tourists alike. In all, thousands of visitors share nearly 2 hours of fervor every year.
At the end of the nocturnal tour of the relics of Saint-Nicolas, you'll be on your way back to Nancy. Departure is at 10.30pm, arrival at 10.45pm.
